Recipes for Life – Curriculum for 5th-grade students focused on food preparation, nutrition, and food and kitchen safety. In 2010 the Recipes for Life program was written into the University of Kentucky Nutrition Education Program.

The task force developed hands-on learning experience curriculum for 5th-grade students which focused on food preparation skills, nutation knowledge, healthy eating, kitchen, and food safety, and mealtime etiquette.

This project allowed students to gather at the Extension office and participate in a cooking class and demonstration.  The fifth graders teamed with FCS Agent, Extension Homemaker Club members, 4-H council volunteers, community volunteers and high school students for the hands-on project which included recipe reading, cooking, and nutrition learning stations.
